On Saturday June 5, the Global Cross-Border Technology Exchange Research Institute invited the Shanghai Quzhou Chamber of Commerce Reading Club to the Bay Valley Science and Technology Park and for a shared reading activity. Hua Yang, President of the Global Cross-Border Technology Exchange Research Institute first gave a welcome speech and welcomed the arrival of the book friends from the Chamber of Commerce Reading Club. At the same time, he also outlined the mission and vision of Lingang Innovation and the function and positioning of the research institute.

The guest speaker of this event is Xiaoxia Zhou, PhD in Folklore from East China Normal University. She has served as the dean of Confucius Institutes in Europe and the United States and has also presided over the work of UNESCO in China. Combined with her theoretical research and practice of cross-cultural communication, she shared “The Silent Language” with the attendees. The author of the book is Edward Hall, an American anthropologist and cultural scholar. It was written in the 1950s to explore the role of time and space in people’s daily communication. This book is the pioneering work of cross-cultural communication. Dr. Zhou analyzed the chapter structure of the book and cited numerous examples to emphasize the importance of culture in international communication. The attendees also interacted with each other based on their learning and work experience, and spoke freely.
